Ike Smitskamp has been creating art for ten years now: paintings, photographs and crossovers. She often works starting from a self-made setup or 'stage'. Apart from being an artist, Ike works from her consultancy office Over het Voetlicht; she trains and coaches professionals to improve their presentational skills.
Ike wanted to have a website for which she would create the front page herself, and on which the recurring theme would be a small thread. She wanted the main colours to be ice blue and bright red, and the
rest of the site to be very simple, to ensure her work could be shown
For this website, I used php and css. I did not use a Content Management System (CMS), because there was no need for Ike to be able to update the site herself: she would send me emails with the updates. In my opinion, the freedom of doing whatever you want to with a website is even bigger if you do not use a CMS.
For the front page, Ike did a lot of work herself. Michel de Vink also worked hard on the front page, and I did some of the work. For the rest of the website, Michel and I worked together as well. We learned some new stuff about making a bar on the top and a bar on the footer of the site that stay put while scrolling through a page. We're quite proud of this new website.
